How do you ride to The Great Chamber by UTV?
The Great Chamber is a massive sandstone amphitheater carved into the cliffs just north of Kanab. From our shop it's a short UTV drive up a wide sand wash, then a quick walk into the cathedral- like chamber. Plan it for early morning or late afternoon when the light hits the back wall and temperatures are mild.
Do you need a permit for The Great Chamber?
No special permit is required for non-commercial UTV access. You do need a Utah OHV registration sticker — already on every Kanab UTV Rentals rental — and the standard Utah OHV Safety Course certificate for every driver.
What gear should you bring?
Closed-toe shoes for the short hike into the chamber, plenty of water, and sun protection. DOT-approved helmets for the UTV ride come standard with our Can-Am Maverick rentals.
Is it suitable for first-time UTV drivers?
Yes — the route is one of the most beginner-friendly rides around Kanab. The wash is wide, the terrain is forgiving, and the payoff at the chamber is one of the most photogenic spots in Southern Utah. If you want a slot-canyon experience next, head to Peek-a-boo Canyon.
